1. What is Proline Styling Windshield Skins™?
Windshield Skins™ is optically clear polyester that is designed to take whatever the road dishes out. Impacts which shatter unprotected glass leaves only a pinpoint on the Windshield Skin™, preserving its optical clarity. Like glass, Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ is scratch resistant and stands up to everyday abrasions, including windshield wipers.
2. How is Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ applied to glass?
The Windshield Skins™ have a powerful adhesive on one side that is kept clean by a protective liner which is removed at time of installation. Professional installers completely clean and prepare the glass prior to installation. Using a special mounting solution and squeegee they prepare, fit, and secure the film to the glass.
3. Does Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ reduce the chance of glass breaking?
The Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ absorb the impact of standard road hazards - significantly reducing the occurrence of rock chips, stars, pitting, and bulls-eyes - leaving the glass in prestine condition.
4. Does Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ help with UV protection?
Yes, Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ also feature UV stabilizers which help reduce the amount of heat and UV allowed in your vehicle, thus helping prolong the life of your interior.
5. Do Windshield Skins™ provide more safety?
If windshields already have cracks or chips in them, 70% of their tensile strength can be lost. If another rock or piece of flying debris hits the windshield, it does not have the strength, required by the manufacturer, to keep vehicle passengers safe. If the windshield's strength is weak because of chips or cracks, it does not have the ability to keep passengers inside or to withstand the crushing forces an automobile experiences during a crash.
Industry expert’s estimate that between 18% and 22% of the vehicle's structural integrity is provided by the windshield and in roll-over accidents. The windshield takes up as much as 70% of the total structural integrity of the vehicle.
6. Why should customers install Proline Styling Windshield Skins™?
Windshield Skins™ provide three main benefits:
- Impact resistance against normal road hazards.
- UV stabilizers which reduce vehicle heat, prolonging interior life.
- Faster run-off of rain, snow, and other elements - providing better visibility.
7. Will Windshield Skins™ impair the driver's vision?
No. Windshield Skins™ are optically clear and guaranteed not to peel bubble, crack, or yellow for the warranted life of the product. When installed properly, it is virtually invisible.
8. Is Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ scratch resistant?
Yes. Our hard-coated film features much the same scratch resistant qualities as glass and will protect against normal abrasion - including windshield wipers.
9. Will Windshield Skins™ remain adhered to the windshield?
The adhesive is strong enough that high-powered car wash streams do not cause the film to lift from the windshield.
10. Are Windshield Skins™ permanent?
No. Windshield Skins™ are films that protect the windshield from harsh conditions that often break or chip standard windshields. Being a film, Windshield Skins™ should occasionally be removed and replaced to provide the best protection for the windshield. The need and timing to replace the film is dependent upon the miles driven and the conditions in which those miles are accumulated.
11. How is Windshield Skins™ removed or replaced?
Windshield Skins™ use a unique adhesive that keeps the film adhered tightly to the windshield, but at the same time the adhesive is not permanent. If the Windshield Skin™ needs to be removed for any reason, it can be removed by using a semi-sharp instrument, such as a knife blade, to lift up one corner of the film.
Then by pulling the film with constant pressure, the film will come off of the windshield. Any adhesive remaining on the windshield is removed with a basic soap and water washing of the windshield. New Windshield Skins™ can then be installed on the clean windshield.
12. Does Proline Styling Windshield Skins™ offer a warranty?
Yes. Proline Styling offers a two-year limited warranty on this product. Details of the warranty are found in the warranty document.
13. Are Windshield Skins™ sold in individual pieces or by roll?
Windshield Skins™ are sold pre-cut and pre-molded to specific vehicles, totaling over 5,000 part numbers. Contact Proline Styling for more detailed information.
14. What if the box housing the windshield skin™ is cut and the skin is damaged when I receive it?
BGI’s obligation is to manufacture the product and confirm that at the time of shipping the product meets all required specifications and when properly installed will function for its intended purpose. BGI shall not be responsible for any damage caused during the shipping or delivery process.
15. What if after I install the windshield skin™ I notice that the skin is discolored and the wrong size?
Before starting installation, dry fit the skin and confirm that the product is free of all damage that may have been caused during shipping (i.e. cracks or discoloration). Confirm that you have ordered the correct part number for the vehicle. There may be up to a 1/2 inch space between the product and the edge of the windshield’s rubber. This deviation is normal and deemed acceptable. The retailer is responsible for failure to comply with the above.
16. What if I open the box and notice that the windshield skin™ is damaged. How long do I have to return it?
If the product is found to be defective the Retailer must return the product no later than 30 days from the date of receipt in the same condition and must package and ship the product in the same manner as it was received.
17. Whose responsible for paying the shipping costs to return a damaged skin?
The Dealer is responsible for all shipping and handling costs related to returning the product to BGI. If the product is damaged during return shipping for whatever reason BGI shall have the discretion to deny the requested refund or exchange.
18. What if I tried installing the windshield skin™, removed the clear liner and stopped because I realized that it was the wrong vehicle. Can I get an exchange?
If the product is returned after 30 days or if the product’s clear liner was removed for any reason BGI shall deny any requested refund or exchange.
19. What if I installed the liner incorrectly and now my customer is complaining and threatening to sue me for windshield damage. Is BGI responsible?
BGI is not liable for any damages (including consequential damages) to any party caused by the installer’s negligent installation.
20. It’s been 45 days since I received my order and I just realized I ordered a skin for the wrong vehicle, can I exchange it?
No, any exchanges and returns have to be completed within 30 days.
21. Who does the customer call if they have to place a claim?
If the customer has to make a claim, please have the customer call PDS (our warranty administrator) at 1-866-531-6629.
22. If my customer moves out of town, is there a list of certified retailers that I can refer him to, in the event he needs assistance with a new skin?
The Bray Group will be constantly updating their list of certified retailers/installers across the country. The information will be either located on their web site or you may call 916-386-0131 for assistance.
23. May I install a windshield skin™ on a customer’s vehicle that he uses as a delivery vehicle for his business in the evening?
No, the windshield skin™ warranty program does not include vehicles designated for commercial use.
